The Problem: The Culture & Trends team at YouTube needed a public repository for all their useful YouTube data, explanations of current trends, and accurate statistics that help the target user of journalists and ad creatives to better understand the next generation of creators and artists.

The Solution: We created a responsive site with a simple color palette, editorial design that heroes the content and a bold type system to highlight data points and increase scannability.

My Role/Process: Lead Designer w/ Creative Director oversight. I worked closely with a UX designer and another junior designer to create the responsive site design and design system in Sketch. This project was built/developed by the YouTube team.

Landing

The landing page serves as the gateway to discovery for the user. Each piece of content is labeled by content type from the longer and more detailed explainer pieces to the quippier data points that are easily shared out. This page also serves as a peek into what kind of content the site has to offer from top videos, records and an aggregate of YouTube in the news.

Discover

The discover page is populated by most recent post and is a complete list.

Records

The records page showcases some of YouTube’s Culture & Trends top lists from most viewed music videos to the top 24 hour music debuts.
